This month Studio 17 is featuring the photography of Dana Gage.  Mr. Gage is a self taught “photo enthusiast” originally from Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Photography has been his passion many years, but he’s only recently begun to market his talents professionally.  This past year, Dana has taken first place at local photography competitions sponsored by organizations including the Veterans Administration, the City of Cheyenne, and the National Arts Program.

Dana’s bio reads, “Living in Cheyenne affords me access to some of the greatest natural beauty there is. The huge skies of The Great Plains, the nearby Rocky Mountains, historic architecture, and abundant wildlife makes this an ideal area to shoot photographs.”

Dana’s show opens with a reception during Art Design & Dine on April 12th from 5-8:oo pm. Studio 17 is on 17th Street, just east of Capitol .

Barbara Mincer weaves baskets using traditional designs that have a distinctively western flair.  She is an avid spinner and often incorporates handspun yarn or felt into her designs.  Many of her designs are built around antlers and are embellished with beads.  Barbara has taught basket weaving through the LCCC Adult Outreach Program and is a popular and accomplished teacher. We are excited to be featuring Barb Mincer’s hand woven baskets this month.  The baskets will be on display and for sale in the store until the Art Design and Dine event on April 12th from 5-8 pm

Artist’s Statement
Organic species are what I enjoy sculpting most, but bringing the plant life inside as opposed to their normal exterior environment is what sparks my attention. Living in different climates has opened my eyes to many different weather conditions that plants, especially flowers, can and cannot survive in.  If it were up to me, we would live in a world where every species of flower we enjoy could flourish year round.  With the clay, I am able to manipulate the flowers and plants to my liking, as well as controlling their structure, color, shape, and size, whether it be realistic, or fantasy.  This way, the viewer and myself are able to observe the organisms in any environment, any time of the year.
Clay Paper Scissors is not only a gallery but also provides studio spaces for rent. They currently have a space available call 307-631-6039 to make an appointment to see the space
