I was first introduced to silk painting in 1995 while attending the University of Wyoming. My exposure to this luxurious fabric shifted my creative focus and artful thinking. The characteristics of painting silk are therapeutic for me. My studies in metaphysics and psychology have influenced my use of brilliant colors, geometric patterns, multicultural images and my own personal symbology in my work. I aim to arouse a sensation of balance and stability in my work, while at the same time creating an ephemeral presence that transcends the viewer’s experience. I’m excited to be showcasing my work at the Ancient Sage and painting here live September 13th. For those who attend you will witness why the art of silk painting is such an alluring medium. From brush and hand to dye and silk, vivid colors are absorbed by the fabric immediately. Come see how this process takes place from getting the image on the silk to a fully painted fabric.
